Shalini KantayyaFilmmaker Shalini Kantayya’s Coded Bias, premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival. The film won a SIMA Award for Best Director, and has been nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award, and a NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Documentary, among others. Shalini’s debut feature, Catching the Sun, premiered at the LA Film Festival and was named a New York Times Critics' Pick. Catching the Sun released globally on Netflix on Earth Day 2016 with Executive Producer Leonardo DiCaprio, and was nominated for the Environmental Media Association Award for Best Documentary. Dr. Barbara Brown Dr Barbara Brown is the Associate Dean, Teaching and Learning in the Werklund School of Education at the University of Calgary, and she is the Academic Coordinator for the Leading and Learning in a Digital Age stackable certificate in the MEd Interdisciplinary Program. Dr. Thomas Patrick Keenan
Dr. Thomas Patrick Keenan was educated at Columbia University, earning degrees in philosophy, mathematics, engineering, and a doctorate in education. He is currently a professor in the School of Architecture, Planning, and Landscape at the University of Calgary, where he teaches courses on smart communities. His research focuses on computer security and the social implications of technology. Lisa SilverLisa Silver is a proud Calgarian, lawyer, educator, and avid blogger. Lisa is an Associate Professor at the University of Calgary, Faculty of Law, where she teaches criminal law, evidence and is the course director for the 3L advocacy program. She writes and researches in an extensive range of topics including sentencing, judicial decision-making and the admissibility of expert and digital evidence. She is the author of Criminal Law Defences, 5th Edition with Pat Knoll, QC. Lisa maintains her own award-winning law blog at www.ideablawg.ca and regularly contributes to the Faculty’s ABlawg website.
