Lisa Stowe
Lisa Stowe is the Director Experiential Learning in the Taylor Institute for Teaching and Learning and a faculty member in the Department of Communication, Media and Film at the University of Calgary, Canada.
As director of experiential learning, Lisa Stowe is responsible for promoting and advancing experiential learning at the University of Calgary based on the priorities in the University’s EL Plan. This includes supporting faculty and staff in their pursuit of experiential learning programs across campus as well as increasing capacity and lowering barriers for students and faculty to engage in EL activities. She is also a leading scholar in experiential learning. Her research mostly focuses on how affective learning impacts the EL learning cycle. She has presented her research at a variety of national and international conferences including the Canadian Association for the Study of Adult Education, the National Society of Experiential Education, and at the Lilly Conference on Teaching and Learning.
Kara Loy
Kara Loy is an educational development consultant at the Taylor Institute of Teaching and Learning at the University of Calgary, Canada.
Her superpower is in supporting instructors to implement experiential learning and undergraduate research into courses they teach in engaging and rewarding ways. She is keen to enable curricular innovation built on positive e-learning practices and contributory to developing students’ intercultural competencies, professional skills, and self-efficacy. Overall, she loves forging transformational academic opportunity at the interface of university, industry, and community to drive discovery and inform socio-economic advancement.
