EPIDEMIC URBANISM

What is it?

The Epidemic Urbanism Initiative, founded by Drs. Mohammad Gharipour and Caitlin DeClercq, has hosted international conferences and conducted interviews with visionary scholars, practitioners, and leaders with a focus on epidemic illness and urban life.

Who is it for?

Free for everyone.

What can it do?

The Epidemic Urbanism Initiative explores the connection between epidemic illness and urban life. How can epidemics help us understand urban environments? What insights from the outbreak, experience, and response to previous urban epidemics might inform our understanding of COVID-19? How might we begin to articulate and reflect on the ways in which COVID-19 has shaped and continues to shape urban life, institutions, communities, and the built environment? How can we leverage these insights to better prevent and more justly intervene in future pandemics?
