Profiles

Dr. Barbara Brown is Associate Dean, Teaching and Learning in the Werklund School of Education at the University of Calgary and she is the Academic Coordinator for the Leading and Learning in a Digital Age stackable certificate in the MEd Interdisciplinary Program. Her research interests include research-practice partnerships, professional learning, and instructional design in digital learning environments.


Dr. Michele Jacobsen is a Professor in the Werklund School of Education, and a Teaching Scholar at the University of Calgary. Her research is focused on learning and participatory pedagogies in technology enabled learning environments, online faculty development, graduate supervision and education, science and technology communication, and learning designs to sponsor knowledge building and intellectual engagement.


Dr. Verena Roberts is an Adjunct Assistant Professor with the Werklund School of Education at the University of Calgary. Her research interests include learning design, open learning, open educational resources (OER) and pedagogy (OEP), participatory learning and the ethics of educational technology.


Christie Hurrell is the Director, Lab NEXT in Libraries and Cultural Resources at the University of Calgary.  Her role involves advancing digital research initiatives and partnerships, working on scholarly communication and open education initiatives, and coordinating Lab NEXT, the library’s digital scholarship collaboration space and makerspace.
